The University of Florida online Professional Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder equips individuals with a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field with specialized knowledge about autism spectrum disorder and its treatment. Students will have the opportunity to learn from national and international autism experts as they gain skills and expertise needed by professionals working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder or in areas such as policy making and education.
Florida exceptional student education (ESE) teachers can complete the University of Florida ASD Certificate to satisfy the training requirement for the Department of Education autism endorsement.
Professional Certificate
The 12-credit Professional Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder can be completed in as little as two semesters, if desired. The curriculum is well suited to professionals currently working or pursuing careers as:
- Healthcare Providers
- Educators
- Speech Pathologists
- Behavioral Analysts
- Policymakers
- Family members of individuals with ASD
- Others with an accredited Bachelor’s degree in any field
Non-Degree
Individuals who are not ready to pursue the professional certificate have the option to apply as a non-degree seeking student. This allows sampling of courses from the certificate program without being formally admitted. This is an excellent way to strengthen skills in specified topics and ease into the online learning experience. Students will be able to transfer up to six non-degree credits to the professional certificate later, if they earn a grade of at least a “B” and apply for and gain admission to the program.
